Kathleen Smith, MD

Kathleen J. Smith, MD, is a highly skilled, board-certified dermatologist, immunodermatologist and dermatopathologist at Dermatology Specialists of Atlanta in Decatur, Georgia. She is extremely knowledgeable in her field with more than 25 years of medical experience. 

Dr. Smith is board certified in dermatology, dermatological immunology, diagnostic and laboratory immunology, and dermatopathology. She received her medical training at the University of Iowa College of Medicine in Iowa City, Iowa. 

She was a veteran and completed her residency at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, D.C. Dr. Smith finished up her medical training with a fellowship at Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Washington, D.C., and Walter Reed Army Institute of Research in Bethesda, Maryland. 

Dr. Smith maintains her advanced medical credentials by taking continuing education courses to stay current in the latest advances in dermatology. She is also a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and Society of Contact Dermatology, and one of very few board-certified immunodermatologists nationally. Dr. Smith has over one hundred published medical articles in peer-reviewed journals. 

When she’s not caring for her patients, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time with family and friends. She welcomes new and existing patients to Dermatology Specialists of Atlanta and enjoys improving the health and appearance of their skin.
