As a best practice, please contact the medical plan customer service department prior to the appointment to verify that the patient is eligible for medical services. It’s important to ask about the total costs of care, payments, and what the health plan will cover. Knowing the amount of the Co-Pay, or what the patient will need to pay out-of-pocket, is an important consideration. Refer below to the forms of payment accepted by our office. In the event that claim forms must be completed, it’s advisable to ask about whether the patient or our staff will complete these forms for submission to the medical plan. Not all services and procedures are covered by every plan. Contact Dermatology Specialists of Atlanta for additional information and details pertaining to your specific coverage.

Insurance Co-Pays

Most medical care plans require patients to make a co-payment at the time of their visit. The co-payment amount is determined by the insured’s health plan and isn’t determined by our office. All co-pays will be collected at the time of check-in. Please be prepared to pay this co-pay directly prior to the scheduled dermatology service appointment. We accept most major credit cards, cash and checks as forms of payment.

Insurance Deductibles

Most medical care plans have deductibles that apply for surgical procedures. Patients are usually required to pay their deductible prior to their surgical procedure. Please be prepared to pay this deductible at the time of check-in. Wart removal, injections and destruction of lesions are considered surgical procedures by insurers and deductibles can apply.

Payments

Our office makes every effort to make each patient’s visit as easy and time-efficient as possible. We accept many forms of payment including cash, checks, as well as credit cards such as VISA, Master Card, Discover Card, American Express, and debit cards. Be sure to bring the current insurance card and co-payment information to all office visits.

Lab Tests and Fees

In addition to the patient’s bill from this office, the patient may receive statements or invoices from others who have provided services. Depending on the patient’s plan and medical condition, lab test fees may or may not be covered. Be sure to get the facts about lab test coverage from the medical plan’s customer service department and pass those details along to the staff at Dermatology Specialists of Atlanta. The office will directly bill the patient’s medical plan unless otherwise advised. The patient, unless a minor, is always responsible for ensuring that the bill is paid in full. When a balance remains after a patient’s health plan issues payment or denies payment, the remainder is due from the patient upon receipt of his or her medical statement. Please call this office with any questions about fees or payments assessed.

Payment Considerations

We ask that patients pay the amount due after each visit. It’s important to tell us if the amount cannot be paid in full at that time. If a statement indicates an unpaid account, it’s important to pay the amount due upon receipt of the statement or contact the office right away to make payment arrangements. In all cases, it’s important to pay as much as possible. This action reduces late payment fees owed on the unpaid account. Please call or write us immediately about any concerns and let us know about the situation preventing your ability to settle the account. Patients may apply for Care Credit in order to pay for expensive procedures or medical services according to the terms and conditions offered to those who qualify.
